an alternative oxidant with great potential.

Some of the chemical actions of ozone include:

  • 1) Converting double bond organic to aldehyde
  • 2) Cyclical double bond to di-aldehyde
  • 3) Cyclical double bond to di-carboxylic acid
  • 4) Aliphatic olefins to carboxylic acid
  • 5) Di-ene to di-alcohol or di-aldehyde
  • 6) Spliting double bonds by oxidation
  • 7) Oxidation of tertiary Carbon.

Use of Ozone in chemical reactions require extensive knowledge on ozone Chemistry apart from mass transfer technology, followed by a suitable ozone destruction. The process safety involves monitoring the plant, ambient ozone levels, ozone measurement and conditioning of the off gases.
